Our grant from the Department of Education is to provide this FREE service for 135 veterans per year in Dallas and Tarrant County. Tarrant Co. Bar Association Chapter offers free (pro bono) legal advice for low income veterans and spouses of deceased veterans. Appointments are required to participate, call the TCBA TLTV Liaison to schedule an appointment at 817-546-4460. The phone lines will be closed once all of the appointment slots are filled. The Veterans Court Diversion Program is a diversion program for Justice Involved Veterans (JIV) who are currently facing prosecution for one or more criminal cases. The program offers offenders a treatment option that is judicially supervised. It is designed to divert JIV out of the traditional criminal justice process and into appropriate rehabilitative alternatives. This reentry-friendly website has been created to provide resources for individuals, their families, and the professionals assisting them to achieve successful reentry to Tarrant County. Housing for Texas Heroes is a program through MHMR of Tarrant County is offering rental or mortgage assistance up to 100% of monthly payment for up to 6 months; payment for Section 8 housing; and catch-up payments for past due rent/mortgage to prevent eviction. The United Way generally has funds available for one-time assistance to veterans. This assistance is usually for things like food, rent, utilities, transportation, home and car repairs, and child care. The primary purpose of the financial assistance is to meet the immediate and urgent needs of applicants. It is not for wage replacement due to unemployment. Click here

The Mesothelioma Center's mission is to help those affected with mesothelioma cancer by offering free assistance and resources to those coping with this disease and their families. These free resources include 1-1 consultation with Patient Advocates who are there to answer any and all medical questions as well as helping find doctors and treatment centers. The Mesothelioma Center specializes in helping people navigate the complicated VA claims process as well. Our lead Patient Advocate for veterans, former U.S. Army Capt.
